BB Cream or CC Cream?

BB (Beauty Balm) and CC (Color Correcter) are multi-tasking creams and are great options if you want to scale back from a full-coverage look of foundation or simply want to have less on your face.

When using these balms and creams your blushes, highlighters and eye shadows will apply similarly to foundation. You can alternate the BB cream as a highlighter and in areas where you need less coverage and the CC cream (or a regular foundation) for the rest of the face.

A BB (Beauty Balm) Cream:

A lightweight formula “beauty balm” offers additional hydration, skincare benefits, sun protection and a brightening effect. Most anti-oxidant BB creams act as a barrier to protect your skin from environmental toxins courtesy of pollutant fighting antioxidants. It can brighten and reduce the appearance of dark spots and fine lines. The coverage is buildable and offers a sheer natural appearance that can be a dewy or matte finish depending on the formula.

A CC (Color corrector) Cream:

A creamy “color correcting” formula targets imperfections in the skin, redness caused by rosacea, acne discoloration, acne scars, uneven texture, hyper pigmentation and melasma. Most formulas allows the color correcting aspect of the formula to neutralize imperfections and make them less visible. It also provides SPF coverage and brighteners to help the skin look less dull. CC creams generally offer more coverage than a BB cream.

Both BB and CC creams are offered in a few levels of shades. Formulations match by adjusting and matching the pigments to the undertones of your skin. In short, generally BB creams offer more hydration and CC creams offer more coverage.

What about tinted moisturizers? Tinted moisturizers typically offer sheer-to-no coverage while providing some additional hydration and sun protection. The right tinted moisturizer can slightly even out skin tone and provide a glowing finish.
