tips for eyes!

A universal technique to open and lift the eyes

step one

Referencing the below images, use the lightest color to get an initial sweep over the lid to even out discoloration (color #1). For the initial contour (color #2), place it without moving or contorting your face. Define the shape by working the eye shadow a little above the crease and follow the natural shape of your eye.

step two

The darkest color (color #3) should be close to the lash line. Start by taking the liner and wiggle in between the lashes, follow with the dark shadow. When dark shadow is applied all the way and above the crease, this actually makes the eye look smaller and it becomes the focus. The dark shade needs to blend before the crease. The shadow should be blended upward and slightly outward, making the eye appear larger and lifted.

step three

Finally, (color #4) can be used in the middle of the eye, just above the iris to add a pop of light in the middle of the eye area, this color can also be used near the inner corner to add a bit of brightness.

let’s talk about those lashes…

1. Curl the right way: Instead of clamping down at the base of your lashes, gently close the curler two thirds the way down, pause for three seconds, release and move upward another third of the way using this gentle closure technique. Instead of upright lashes your lashes will have a soft curl with a more awoken appearance.

2. To avoid clumping: Use a swifter application approach. Instead of going back and forth applying to each eye, apply a few coats repeatedly on a single eye. When you allow too much time to dry in between that's when the mascara will tend to clump.

3. Wiggle your wand: Apply the wand as close to the base of the lashes as possible and give a little wiggle. This ensures you catch all your lashes, also, end in an outward direction, this will elongate and lift the eye area.

4. Mascara on the lower lashes: If smudging is an issue, use a waterproof formula on the bottom lashes. Pro tip: Use a regular formula first then follow with the waterproof formula for easier removal. Super pro tip: After applying, if your lashes appear clumpy run a cotton swab tip dipped in a makeup remover across the end of the lash tips.

5. Use color: Start with a colored mascara FIRST (the unique color closer to the eye makes a difference) then use a brown or black at the tips for a more natural look. The color navy blue is beautiful to start with, especially on warm eye colors , it will make the whites of your eyes brighter and burgundy will make cooler shades of eyes really pop!

6. Proper removal: Treat mascara removal as a step of its own. Saturate a cotton pad with an oil base makeup remover. Gently press it onto lashes for a minute before wiping and remove in a downward direction to avoid friction to the delicate skin around the eye.
